The Bloomer 08/07

This is probably one of my favourites. Some people think the transition doesn't really work, but i really like how that turned out.
I was on a 13 hour train ride to Melbourne from Sydney. I'd just finished a very important piece and was feeling really energised and sleep deprived. I drew this out as an idea, i even inked the green on the figure. i especially enjoyed the hair, they came out like tendrils and vines. He has flowers for eyelashes and a very pod-like facial structure.
I left it like that for about 6 months. I was going through a dry patch creatively and i just started painting on this piece for no reason other than boredom. I started to see the possibilities and then for the next three days i took it everywhere i went. On the train, lunchtimes (grade 11), class and home.

The Bloomer can create life, extenstions of itself perhaps. A god of nature? A spirit? For me the Bloomr is a metaphor for life.
the only intention i want to make a point of concerning this piece is that the deep yellows and reds are representative of decay.
